narration এর প্রতিটি সমস্যা সমাধানের ক্ষেত্রে খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হচ্ছে sentence চিনে তা পরিবর্তন করা।খুব সহজেই প্রতিটি sentence চিনার জন্য নিচে ধারাবাহিক ভাবে প্রতিটি ক্ষেত্র বিশ্লেষণ করা হয়েছে। 

Sentence প্রধানত ৫ প্রকার;

• Assertive sentence (বর্ণনামূলক বাক্য)
• Interrogative (প্রশ্নমূলক বাক্য)
• Imperative (অনুজ্ঞাসূচক বাক্য)
• Optative (প্রার্থনামূলক বাক্য)
• Exclamatory (বিস্ময়সূচক বাক্য)

Direct to Indirect এ পরিবর্তন করার ক্ষেত্রে অবশ্যই মনে রাখতে হবে sentence অনুসারে Reporting verb এবং Invarted comma এর পরিবর্তন ভিন্ন হয়ে থাকে। তাই সবার আগে বুঝতে হবে Narration এ প্রদত্ত sentence টি কোন ধরনের sentence।

Sentence চিনার উপায়;

• Assertive = sub+verb+obj.

Not: Assertive sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে প্রথমে sub তারপর verb এবং পরবর্তীতে object থাকবে।

Examples;

♦I like coffee.
♦He is a good student.
♦I like to read story books.

• Interrogative = Aux.verb+sub+main verb+obj+?/ or starts with WH question

Not: Interrogative sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে প্রতিটি sentence শেষে প্রশ্নবোধক চিহ্ন থাকবে(?) যা দেখে খুবই সহজেই বঝতে পারবে এটা Interrogative sentence। 

Examples;

♦ Are you going to Dhaka ?
♦ Where have you gone?
♦ Did you finish your homework?
♦ Are you going to school?

• Imperative = Verb+obj.

Not: Imperative sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে প্রতিটি  sentence এর শুরু হবে Verb দ্বারা। 

Examples;

♦ Give me a cup of coffee.
♦ Don’t tell a lie.
♦ Always speak the truth.

• Optative = May+ sub+verb+obj.

Not: সকল Optative sentence May দ্বারা শুরু হবে।

Examples;

♦ May Allah bless you.
♦ May you live long.
♦ May she recover soon.
♦ May your dream come true.

• Exclamatory = What/how + adj+ noun + sub + verb+!

Not: Exclamatory sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে প্রতিটি sentence এ Exclamatory চিহ্ন বা আশ্চর্যবোধক চিহ্ন(!) থাকবে।

Examples;

♦ What a beautiful bird it is!
♦ How fast he runs!
♦ Alas! He is dead.

Reporting verb & Inverted Comma এর পরিবর্তন

Assertive sentence (বর্ণনামূলক বাক্য)

Assertive sentence এর  ক্ষেত্রে Reporting verb  উঠে তার পরিবর্তে said to / told বসবে এবং Inverted Comma উঠে that বসবে।

Assertive = sub+verb+object
Ex: I like coffee.
Ass: He (said to) me, (“I like coffee”.)
________↓ ______________↓____
(Reporting Verb) _(“ ”) (Reporting speech) 
_______↓_______↓
Ind: He( told) me (that) he liked coffee.

Interrogative (প্রশ্নমূলক বাক্য)

Interrogative sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে Reporting Verb উঠে asked এবং Inverted Comma উঠে(yes বা no question হলে) if ও (WH word) থাকিলে সেই ক্ষেত্রে WH word-ই বসবে।

Imperative (অনুজ্ঞাসূচক বাক্য)

Imperative sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে Reporting Verb উঠে তার পরিবর্তে,

• আদেশ বুঝালে-ordered
• উপদেশ বুঝালে-advised
• অনুরোধ বুঝালে-requested
• আর কিছুই না বুঝলে-told বসবে

এবং Inverted Comma উঠে to অথবা negative এর ক্ষেত্রে not to বসাতে হবে। 

Optative (প্রার্থনামূলক বাক্য)

Optative sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে Reporting Verb উঠে prayed বা wished এবং Inverted Comma উঠে তার পরিবর্তে that বসবে।

Exclamatory (বিস্ময়সূচক বাক্য)

Exclamatory sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে Reporting Verb উঠে exclaimed with joy /sorrow এবং Inverted Comma উঠে that বসবে।

Narration এ Person পরিবর্তন

♦ Reported speech এর 1st person যেমন ; I,we, me, my ইত্যাদি পরিবর্তন হবে Reporting verb এর Subject এর সাথে।

Example;
• Dir: He said to me, ” I have completed my work”.
• Ind: He told me that he had completed his work.

Not-1: Reported verb এবং Inverted comma এর পরিবর্তন ➤ প্রথমেই বুঝতে হবে Reported speech এর ভিতরে Sentence টি কোন Sentence এবং  Sentence অনুসারে R.V এবং (“ ”) পরিবর্তন করতে হবে, উপরের Sentence টি যেহেতু  Assertive sentence সেই ক্ষেত্রে rules অনুসারে Reported verb (said to) উঠে told বসবে এবং Inverted comma(“ ”) উঠে that বসবে।

Not-2; Person পরিবর্তন ➤ এখানে মনে রাখা ভালো Person পরিবর্তনের সময় অবশ্যই Reported speech এর ভিতরে থাকা subject কে follow করতে হবে।

Not-3; উপরের example-এর subject যেহেতু 1st person সেহেতু এটি পরিবর্তন হবে (RV) এর Sub এর সাথে।

♦ 2nd person যেমন ; you, your পরিবর্তন হবে Object এর সাথে।

Example;
• Dir: Father said to me, “Are you ill?”
• Ind: Father asked me if I was ill.

♦ এবং 3rd person যেমন ; he, she, it, they, কোনো কিছুর নাম ইত্যাদি No change যা আছে তাই থাকবে।

Example;
• Dir: Rifat said to the teacher, “He was absent”.
• Ind: Rifat told the teacher that he had been absent

সাধারণ কিছু Rules;

• Yes – replied in the affirmative
• No – replied in the negative
• কাউকে সম্বোধন করলে – Addressing as বসে।

Example;
• Dir: He said to me, “Brother, can you help me?
• Ind: Addressing as brother he asked me if I could help him.

Not:যেহেতু এখানে ভাই অর্থাৎ(Brother) বলে সম্বোধন করা হয়েছে সেহেতু  Indirect করার ক্ষেত্রে sentence টি Addressing as brother দ্বারা শুরু হবে।আর বাকি গুলা আমাদের আগের rules অনুসারে পরিবর্তন হবে।যেমন;উপরে sentence টি একটি interrogative sentence সেই ক্ষেত্রে RV উঠে asked এবং Inverted comma এর পরিবর্তে if।

Not-2: আর এখানে subject 2nd person সেইক্ষেত্রে rules অনুযায়ী subject পরিবর্তন হবে RV এর object এর সাথে।
